Meet Emilia May, as director of programs!

Emilia has been involved with HB since the very beginning and has worked in many different capacities at the library. We are so pleased to have her back as acting director! Emilia has lived in Akumal since she was a child, is a teacher at the Montessori preschool, and a vibrant member of the community.

These hard working young people do all the hands-on activities with the kids, from reading and homework help, to sports and crafts. Without them, we wouldn't be able to do all the wonderful projects we do!

Meet Our US & UK Library Board Members:

Debra lives in the Pacific Northwest. She loves the Akumal area and has been devoted to Hekab Be for a number of years. She is a mother of 3 and has owned and operated several businesses. Debra was instrumental in establishing a 501 (c) (3) so that the Library could receive tax deductible donations. Her best times are with her grand-kids, cooking, and travelling.

Ed and his wife Sandy live in Vermont and have been supporting Hekab Be and it's children for many years!  After their first trip to Quintana Roo, and finding the local people genuinely friendly and caring, they discovered information on Hekab Be in the Loco Gringo forums. At that point they knew they had found a way to say "thank you" to the people that work so hard at making their vacations feel like "coming home".  "Extending the hand of friendship and our gratitude, to the innocents of Akumal, just feels so right!"

Nicky lives in Akumal with her mate Jake and their two kids, Lily and Laurie.


Betsy lives in the area and does more than her share of helping out.
